Michal Fulier


was born in Trenčín in 1981. He works and lives in Bratislava. He studied Construction engineering and later, in 2003, he successfully passed a Philosophy state exam at the university in Nitra. Since 2006, he makes his living as a photographer, graphic designer, he participated on documentary film shootings as a cameraman and assistant director.

Among his projects is a documentary series on volunteer Slovak doctors working with HIV-positive patients in Uganda or a series about one of the few Christian islands in Muslim Indonesia. He is interested in topics such as emancipation and the status of woman in society, the searching of identity of individual in religions, also the culture of big cities and its impact on human. He currently works with his camera in several refugee facilities throughout Slovakia.

He was awarded an Honorable Mention title in International Photo Awards 2010 competition for his entries: “Generations” (People – Culture), “Gypsies among Gypsies” (Deeper Perspective).

He is a member of the photographic group 'Rovnými nohami' (Straight legs) from 2009.
